CrossFit is a training methodology aimed at improving overall fitness – increasing both strength and cardiovascular levels for people of all fitness levels and abilities. The program was developed by Coach Greg Glassman through many years of watching, working with and coaching all types of people – from those considered “normal and average” to top athletes. Coach Glassman’s idea- take what worked best from the sports and movements that create the most versatile athletes (gymnastics, weightlifting and metabolic conditioning) and throw out the rest. If a workout or particular movement proved to be challenging, functional and effective, it stayed in the system. If not, it was dropped. What remains is CrossFit- the most effective fitness and conditioning system available outside of elite training programs associated with major university sports teams and professional athletics. CrossFit prides itself on not only being a gym but a school. There you will learn not only how to workout safely and effectively but also how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Each GoRow class is different. One class integrates boxing, another yoga, and then another pilates. We developed a routine that incorporates a little of everything called Garlates. This class integrates all facets of exercise for the most beneficial and effective workout around. It’s the perfect blend of the best cardio exercise mixed with all the best strength training and coordination exercises. When rowing, every member of the class must count on each other or risk failure. We are bringing that same energy into our workout. Every class has one perfect goal: and that is that the whole class, start and finish together. GoRow classes are like group personal training sessions that provide individualized attention. There are only 10 rowers in the studio, and each rower has an exercise mat with a set of dumbbells ranging from 5 to 33 lb. Each class starts with several minutes of vigorous rowing and moves on to perform a weight training circuit. At the end of the circuit, the class members return to the rower, and alternate back and forth for 3 rounds, finishing with a 500m race maximizing the amount of calories burned in the hour.
