Lili’s Corner-St. Patty’s Day-making your own puzzles
Ok so Hoboken St. Patty’s Day (or whatever it’s called now) is usually a time where families pack up and head for the hills for fear of drunken adolescents scaring their children at all hours of the day and night. This, as well as the cold weather predictions, most likely means you’ll be indoors for a large portion of the upcoming weekend. So you’ll need many things to do with the kiddies so you all do not go insane.
A fun and easy craft we love is making your own puzzles. Now you can order blank puzzles online but it’s so much more fun to create them yourself! All you need is Popsicle sticks, 4”x4” white paper, glue, markers and scissors. Draw a picture on the white 4”x4” piece of paper. Then flip it over and glue the Popsicle sticks onto the back of the paper leaving a little space between each stick. Then using your scissors cut in between the sticks and flip the pieces over. Have the kids mess up the sticks and then try to put them back together recreating the original image they drew/colored. *
You can theme this for upcoming Passover or Easter as well as spring time and St. Patty’s day. If they are more into drawing something unrelated that’s fine as well. You can also add glitter or thing stickers if you have them. Remember you have to cut through the sticker so it should be as thing as possible. Let their creativity run wild and enjoy the time with them. This is a craft that they can really spend time creating and will continue to use day after day.
